Recently, UCI announced that in the new season of 2019, the World Endurance Series (EWS) will join the mountain bike world event.
The 2019 World Endurance Series (EWS) will compete in eight sub-stations around the world starting March 24th, and will end the year-round event on September 21.
A week after the end of the EWS World Endurance Tournament, the "Trophy of Nations" event will follow. The competition requires three drivers per team to participate, and the team's total score is divided. The Trophy of Nations will be held in Finale Ligure, Italy.
Endurance races require drivers to use a combination of endurance, technology and speed. Each endurance race has 4-6 downhill timed stages and untimed connected stages. Each downhill stage is timed separately, and all the timed stages are added in time to get the final result.
Trophy of Nations also uses the same rules to compete, but the competition requires each team to send three drivers to participate in the final score depends on the total score of the three drivers. The winners of each group (men's elite, women's elite, U21 men's youth, U21 women's youth) will receive a special UCI champion shirt issued by UCI.
"I am very pleased to welcome the World Endurance Series (EWS) to join the UCI Mountain World Calendar", UCI President David Lapatien said, "EWS has been professional since 6 years since its inception in 2013, and is well received by the majority of riders. Joining UCI, this growing mountain event will be supported by UCI with 190 National Alliance members and a wider international connection.
David Lapatien added: The new "Trophy of Nations" event, which is independent of the EWS series, is still managed by the EWS to promote the further development of the Mountain Endurance Race.
